My favourite thing about The Oscars, apart from the rooting for your favourite to win and the whole introduction part, (As The Oscar's have become well known for amazing intro's into the star studded show) is of course THE RED CARPET! It's where all the fashion is at, its where all the style comes alive and where sometimes occasionally slip ups happen and celebrities cant pronounce who their wearing, (Always amusing to watch them worm their way out of it).
This year's Oscar's, did and didn't disappoint. The celebrities who turned up on the red carpet didn't disappoint, as there was so many, it really was a star studded event, but the overall of the dresses to me, didn't do it enough justice. I guess I've been feeling the same, since award season first started, First with The Golden Globes and then with The SAG awards. I just haven't been as wowed as i had hoped i would be, but i do have a favourite of the evening as always! :)
Lets get to it..
All these dresses were actually pretty stunning, in there own way, but none that made me stop in my tracks, (if you know what i mean) there were a few others that i wasn't sure of, Jennifer Lawrence i didn't like the bottom of your dress, Anne Hathaway, there was something about it i didn't like..(Still cant put my finger on it, but its not the nips), Jessica Chastain and Kristen Stewart, the colour of your gowns drowned you out..although something about Jessica's intrigued me. Wasn't sure of Nicole Kidman's, Jennifer Aniston, Zoe Saldana, Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon.
My winner of the night, isn't a big A list Hollywood actress, but i just simply liked this dress..
The beautiful Louise Roe wearing a Tulle Monique Lhuillier Gown.
My worst of the night, may possibly go to Fan Bingbing for her bright pink, all over the place frock!
ALSOOOO, can i just say a HUGE Congratulations to Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway, i was rooting for them both, and I'm so glad they won their Oscar's, thoroughly deserved. I love both these ladies as Actresses but also as just down to earth, simple, funny, intelligent girls! CONRATS!
Who was your best and worst dressed of the night!? If you have done an Oscar post, link it below so i can have a read please!

I agree with you that there were some beautiful dresses but nothing stood out really! I was just a bit 'meh' with them all - there was nothing particularly daring or 'couture' looking. I did adore the colour of Jennifer Lopez's dress though! That hot pink was awesome! I'm suprised that there weren't many tangerine coloured dresses about - with it being a hot colour this season! And it being more adventurous than safe silver black, navy and cream etc! And what the hell was Kristen Stewart wearing?!?! It was like seeing Madonna crossed with a loo-roll dolly at the bottom!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the mammoth comment there haha! I love these posts though! You should do a weekly series about the best and worst dressed celebs of the week!

By the Jennifer Lopez dress, do you mean the bright pink one i added in to my collage!? thats not J-lo, its a TV presenter called Maria something! :P I however do agree with you, that dress colour is beautiful, and yes, most of the dresses were all MEH, i was a little disappointed and i felt like it should have been MOREEE! it is The Oscars for goodness sake!
DeleteHAHAHA at the Madonna comment, i couldn't agree more, it drowned out her colour completely! :(
Anddd aww, thats soo sweet! i never know if anyone is interested in these type posts because its only my opinion after all, and everyone may be thinking, "Ew WTF is wrong with her for liking that one.." LOL
but thank you! ;)

Yeah that J-Lo dress hahah - it was the first time I saw it on here and I was like 'WOW!!!' She does look like J-Lo on my phone haha!
DeleteAww well all those magazines all have best/worst dressed and they're someone's opinion so why not do your own version? I'd read them! I love posts like that!
Ooh and just to add to the Oscars? What did you think of Adele's choice? I loved it and considering she's just had a baby I think it was really flattering! Most people disagree with me though haha!

LOOL She's gorgeous! :)
DeleteYeh, your right i suppose, could you imagine, every week..WORST dressed and BEST dressed according to Ana! :P haha
Adele's dress, i didn't hate it at all, but i wasn't shocked, (if you know what i mean) its what we've grown to expect from Adele, her make up, and hair was absoulty gorgeous though, and im happy she won, what a brilliant award to add to all her sucess. Her simple black dress was pretty but expectant, i think i preferred Kelly Osbourne's black one though, i loved the shoulder detail! :P

Ahh now you've said that I'm inclined to agree that it is very similar to things she's worn before. I'm now think last year's Brits just more glitz? Still, I love her and don't want to fault her :) I agree that her hair and makeup were gorgeous though. She always looks immaculate at these events.
DeleteKelly Osbourne is just someone I never expect to get it right but recently she's done really well with her style. She just needs to get rid of that purple. It ruined such an elegant look for me. The beading on that dress was beautiful and I like that it was open backed too! I couldn't decide if I liked that shoulder or not. It's different which is always nice to see though!
Ahhh another long comment - sorry :P

Yeah, i lovee Adele, and so dont want to fault her either, but i want to see a little sumthing sumthing from her, i know she can totally wow us. This is also how i feel about Jennifer Lawrence, i absolutely adore her but didn't like her choice of dress for the night, but i dont want to fault it too as i love her! :P haha personality wins over fashion.
DeleteI loved Kelly's but like you too, was not expecting her to pull off anything as classy, and i agree with the hair, dont know she would do with it, i cant imagine her having a semi normal colour and cut though. LOL
Anddd i love your long comments, makes replying to them so much more fun! :)

I think it gets more difficult each year to wow us all with the dresses. Someone really needs to be innovative and bring something amazing out.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, I absolutely adore Louise Roe's dress. Well the top of the dress, until it goes out into a cupcake :P. The detailing around the bodice is stunning and the colours really compliment it.
Love this kind of post!

I know, and im inclined to say, that if it was me, what would i do to stun everyone, because im all for the classic elegant looks on the red carpet, nothing OTT but something that still makes people gasp! I felt the same the top of Louise's dress was stunning, the way it was nude with red and the detail was brilliant, i too, didnt like the bottom very much, but the top did it for me! :) haha
DeleteAnd Aww thank you

I love the pink dress, I think everyone looked really pretty :)
